We were delighted to host of group of farmers at a venue near Peterborough last week for an event focusing on soil carbon. The morning brought together farmers, technical specialists and industry representatives for a practical and engaging discussion on how soil carbon opportunities can fit within a farming business.
Exploring the science of soil carbon, baselining, and understanding potential financial returns, the session offered attendees guidance of where the value lies and how to navigate emerging markets with confidence.
Expert contributions and on‑farm perspectives
We were pleased to be joined by:
- Ecometric ltd and Regenerate Outcomes, who explained how trading soil carbon works in practice and what farmers need to consider when enrolling in a programme.
- Marcus Boniface, who shared an honest, on‑the‑ground view of where soil carbon fits within a working farm business.
- Jenny Bussell, soil scientist at The Allerton Project, who guided attendees through the science behind soil carbon creation, permanence and measurement.
This was followed by attendees splitting into roundtable discussions for Q&As.
